This past weekend made me realize a few things.
1. When traveling with an infant and you have the perfect adorable outfit you want her to wear just this one time before she outgrows it. Try it on her before leaving. I had 3 such dresses that were way too small to wear. (It didn't stop me from doing the fashion show thing when we came home though. Post to follow.) At least a packed a few cute 2 piece outfits and a onsie dress. LOL, the one 2 piece outfit was a dress that fit more like just a shirt because she's so big. Good thing I had coordinating shorts to match!
2. Another thing I learned when attending a buffet with a picky toddler eater no matter how yummy you think the buffet will be and there has "got to be at least something he will eat" it is still best to pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to be on the safe side.
3. Always take along a sippy or 2 of milk for the toddler. I never would have imagined they would have had less then a half of a half gallon of milk. Upon my second trip to the kitchen to ask for their precious white stuff... I was feeling a bit greedy. Gahhhh he wasn't eating but at least he was drinking milk. I thought maybe I should keep 'em coming.
4. If you hand your infant to a family member at a gathering and walk away... chances are when you turn around the person no longer has your babe. Panic stricken you try to find exactly where your baby disappeared to. This happened twice!
5. Cute little ice cream parlor settee in the ladies bathroom is not a suitable changing table. Good thing I had a hold of Jayden's leg when the table toppled over! Even more of a good thing I didn't try changing Trevor on it first.
6. Bubbles inside + tile floors + many wild children running loose = very bad idea.
7. If the stroller wheels are locked it still isn't a good idea to think it's safely going to stay put. It's a very bad idea to have breakables such as cameras and cell phones in the tray on the handle. Likewise it's a bad idea to have a can of pop in it with the wheels locked. They flip over very easily when pushed from the front when the back wheels are locked.
8. No matter how yummy a meal when you are trying to feed a toddler you will be the last one with food still on your plate and all will be cold and pretty much yucky by the time you actually get to eat. However at this gathering they did something awesome. The allowed all mothers of young children to go through the line first. It felt nice to be appreciated. I even forgot to get dessert!
9. Toddlers arms are like rubber bands. Even if you think everything is out of arms reach if you look away for a minute they are poking themselves in the eye with a fork or eating salt.
Share with me... What has motherhood taught you?

Too funny--Especially #5 & 6. I like how you worded those!
I don't have any extra brain power right now to think of what motherhood has taught me, but I'll keep that on the back burner for a post sometime!
