Random pictures I love part 2

Trevor loves to help sweep the floor, rinse dishes and wants to do everything on his own lately.  (May 15) 2008_05_25 040 "That sun?"  No silly boy that's the moon! (May 15)

2008_05_25 051 My all time favorite Trevor picture to date, taken when we were having a picnic.  He usually doesn't pose for pictures and throws a fit if I try to take one.  (May 18)2008_05_25 083 2008_05_25 091 Taking a walk (May 20)

2008_05_25 099 Playdate at Liz's house.  Trevor lubs Ev-wyn     (May 22)

2008_06_19 048 Jayden finally walks more than a few steps!  She's really on the move now!   (June 18)   Just goofing around.  They are buddies most of the time.  Often hugging and kissing on each other.  The hugging and kissing often turns into rough housing.  Trevor tries and often succeeds in tackling Jayden to the floor.  (July 6)

End of an Era

I am happy to report that Jayden is now weaned.  My goal was for that to happen before I went to Phoenix to make it a little easier on both of us while I’m away.  She’s now been one full week without nursing.  She still acts like she wants to sometimes but she’s not nearly as demanding about it as she was a week ago.  She’s now chugging down whole milk from both bottles and sippies and really seems to like it.  Hat’s off to mammas who do extended b/f but it’s not for me.  I’ll be happy when I can pack away the bottles!  I suppose the next step would be to cut back my calorie intake or I’m going to blow up like a balloon!

10 months

Jayden has been super quick with her army crawl and for about 3 weeks has been crawling on her knees rather than her tummy but she'd go just a few "steps" and then would take off in the army crawl. She know crawls on all fours pretty much all the time. She's pretty quick too.

She pulls up on everything and cruises the furniture. She even stands against the wall with nothing but the wall to grab on to. She likes to look out the window and tries to get into the mini blinds. She stands with little effort now even just holding onto our pant legs. When we hold both of her hands she will take steps with prompting. Walking is still a little ways off I think.

She is a smiley baby and happy as long as she is the center of attention. Though she is starting to get a little better at playing independently. We don't have to work quite so hard to get her to giggle anymore but she doesn't giggle spontaneously like Trevor did. For that reason I really treasure her laughter. Pretty much what makes her giggle is tickling her and sometimes a funny face or dancing around. She doesn't giggle watching videos or at funny sounds. Though she will definitely grin and babble when she sees humor in something. When she's excited or super happy she squeals with delight. :o) I love it when she does that.

When she's upset man can she wail! Her cry becomes panicked almost instantly. It's so hard for me to hear her cry and it creates big time anxiety for both Travis and I because it's not just crying, it's almost terror in her tone. :o( We call her a "drama queen" LOL, she still pouts out her lower lip when she's about ready to wail or if you hurt her feelings. She startles somewhat easily and when she is startled of course she pouts that lip. She's pretty tough though, she's fallen and conked her head a few times and not shed a tear.

She's still loves to nurse and definitely prefers mama. If she's tired or cranky and knows I'm home she only wants me. It frustrates Travis sometimes. I'm sure she'll grow past that and someday she'll be a daddy's girl.

dance baby dance!

Jayden started dancing tonight when I sing to her. Rather it's a sway back and forth. But I know it's dancing because she starts when I start singing and stops when I stop. She also "sang" and started swaying to her own tune. Soooo cute!

9 months old and random cuteness

My how Jayden is growing!

Photobucket She loves to eat pretty much anything. Lately the ONLY thing she won't eat is bananas.
Photobucket I got a 12 month coat for her because she's too big to fit in the infant carrier with the handy dandy cover. She didn't like her coat at first. Maybe because when she wears it she can hardly sit up and just falls over. Now when she sees it she smiles. I suppose she knows it means we're leaving the house!

First chewy food

She wasn't really sure about the biter biscuit. I think she was just too tired to appreciate it. She fell asleep in her high chair. That is the first time in a long time that she fell asleep somewhere other than in our arms or in bed. Trevor always fell asleep in his high chair, bouncy or walker. No luck with Jayden! Oh wait, she falls asleep in her car seat all the time.

First 2 teeth!

So that's what all the fuss is about. They are tiny little razors. And she's been biting me when I nurse her. I gotta get that lovely little habit licked pronto. Any tips?

Proctective little sister?

Tonight was the first night Jayden had a bath in the big bath tub. We went in to watch Trevor take a bath. All was fine until Travis dumped water of Trevor's head. She panicked. She screamed and was trembling the whole time Travis was washing Trevor's hair. Poor girl was terrified. I was really nervous when the time came to put her in the tub. She loved it though and didn't even mind when I rinsed her hair. Silly girl!

Sitting up and a little dancin'

Jayden is sitting up for the first time for longer than a few seconds. We got Trevor a new elmo video about potty training. They both thought the tune was a little catchy I guess because they both started dancing. She had been sitting up for a couple of minutes before I started taking the video. She can't get into sitting position yet, she has to be put there.

Another picky eater?

Gosh I hope not! I thought that cereal was a struggle because of the new texture. The Doctor gave the go ahead to try real solids. First up was sweet potatos and it was a no go. I had sweet potatos on my glasses and in my hair from her spitting them back out. I think the amount that she actually swallowed was pretty miniscule. She's pretty good at clamping her mouth shut and turning her head in all directions to avoid the spoon. Feeding her is like trying to pin jello to the wall, and probably about as messy!

Jayden 6 Months checkup

Jayden's 6 month check was today and wowzers she's a big girl. The doctor said she should be a poster child for breastfeeding. :o) Here's her stats:

Height 26 3/4" (90%)
Weight 18 lb 7 oz (90%)
Head 42.5 cm (90%)

We were there for a long time because Trevor had a mystery rash we wanted to get looked at while we were there and they had to work him in. It was soooo much fun to entertain a 2 year old while trying to hold a squirming baby. They gave him crayons and he had more fun with the tin they came in than using them for what they are for. (See video at and of the post)

They both got tortured a bit: throat culture and flu shot for Trevor and 3 shots for Jayden. Jayden cried big crocodile tears after her shots for a minute but after a quick nursie all was forgotten. Trevor was mad at the nurses after the throat culture. He hid behind the examining table when they came back in to give him the shots. I had to pull him out. He's probably scarred from the last time we were there and they drew his blood!

When were on the way out the door the nurse who poked him walked by and he scowled at her big time. LOL, I didn't recognize her but he sure did and she asked him, "are you still mad at me?" Then he turned away from her. They gave him a yummy juice box. LOL, I had never given him one before so he wasn't quite sure what to do with it. He thought it was pretty cool though when he realized he could squeeze the box and shoot juice everywhere. Ack sticky mess everywhere.

We have to go back in 30 days for flu booster shots. Trevor's mystery rash she thinks is an allergic reaction to who knows what so he was ok to go to day care. And our pediatrician who we adore gave me the news that October 31st is her last day and she will be taking a position at U of I. "Travis asked what is it with you and scaring away doctors????" So far since Trevor was born both my OB's and now our pediatrician? And all three were my favorites of doctors. ~Sigh~

Tonight was fun in our house as both kiddos were cranky after the shots and Trevor has been under the weather for the last few days. He snuggled up on the floor with my boppy and a blanket and watched the entire cars movie from start to finish pretty much without moving. That's a first.

6 months old!

Today my baby girl is 6 months old. My goodness how time flies. I saw a newborn the other day and it brought tears to my eyes thinking how recently it was that I was bringing her home yet at the same time it's like she's been here forever. I feel the same way about how quickly time has passed with Trevor too!

Jayden is getting so big! She's quite a little chunky girl. Mama's milk is doing her good! She will have her check up next week so I'll have her official stats then.
Current developments Jayden is working on:
~ She's very mobile by rolling or army crawl, she manuevers in every direction with her arms
~ She's developing a sense of humor - she laughs when you are silly or make faces at her
~ She prefers to have playtime in the playroom with Trevor
~ She gets mad at Trevor sometimes when he gets in her face too much or takes a toy away
~ She's getting really good at manipulating little objects with her fingers. She can put her binkie in her mouth if she wants to. But usually she's not that interested in it.
~ She giggles sometimes but usually expresses delight with a squeal followed by a "gah" sound almost like a gurgle
~ She's getting really close to sitting on her own. She can sit with just a little support
~ She tries to climb out of the lower part of the bassinet/co-sleeper
~ She likes to jump in her jumperoo and giggles if you bounce her. She also likes to sit in her walker
~ She's got a pretty short attention span and needs frequent changes of scenery or she gets bored
~ Just the last few days she has some vocalization when she's cranky. It sounds like she's saying either mum or mam. Is she working on saying mama?
~ She likes to stick out her tounge when she grins or pretty much anytime
~ She gets mad when Trevor sticks his finger in her mouth because she's stuck out her tongue
~ She fights going to sleep and she prefers to sleep in her bassinet than beside me in bed (big contrast to Trevor)
~ She can sleep through the night but most nights chooses not to

So I think that's about it. ~sniff, sniff~ Tonight is her first night (hopefully all night) in her crib. We'll see how it goes. I'm paranoid that I won't hear her because the monitor will screw up or something and we sleep with a fan.

Grandma's are special

Jayden has been sooooo close to laughing for months and she has giggled a few times but not full blown belly laughs. Well tonight Grandma H had her laughing in a big way! She never laughed like that for us before. :o( Well I'm happy she's laughing. I was starting to wonder if her giggle was broke.

Then Grandma H gave her some rice cereal. So far we hadn't had much success. But she ate it all up and was even opening her mouth for the spoon! Good thing Grandma's going to be here for a few days, maybe she can get Jayden's good habit well established before she goes home.

Reaching

Jayden started reaching for things today. I had her in her kick and play and came in the room and she was holding the little ball attached to it. She let go and intentionally reached for it again. She's also getting much more mobile. She gets around by rolling or pushing herself with her arms and toes.

Yummy Thumb-y

Jayden has started sucking her thumb. She does it with much vigor. You can hear her smack smack smack from another room!

Rasberries

Today Jayden started blowing "rasberries" Here's a little video of her doing it. Though she seemed to be doing it constantly throughout the day, as soon as I pull out the camera she stops. It took about 10 tries to even get this.

Trevor also started blowing rasberries on Jayden's tummy. Though his version is standing over her and spitting on her. He thought that was pretty funny.

Back to front

Jayden rolled from back to front for the first time last night. Now she prefers to sleep on her tummy. I would prefer she sleep on her back as it's the safest. But what's a mama to do? I tried repositioning her but everytime she'd roll right back. So I give up!

Front to Back

Jayden rolled over for the first time yesterday, while I was at work of course. And she wouldn't do it for me until this morning. So here is Jayden showing off her mad skills!

And the fun begins

Jayden has blossomed into a social butterfly over the last few days. I can't believe how she has changed in the last week right infront of my eyes. She now is very smiley and smiles with her whole face and says a wonderful "ahhh ga" along with it. I think she is getting close to laughing because sometimes she makes the happiest noises when she smiles. It's super easy to get her to smile now too. Sometimes she even smiles when she is crying!

She likes to chat with all of us. Trevor likes it when she smiles and she smiles at him a lot. She must think he's pretty silly. She also "talks" to me when she's nursing. She'll break latch to look up at me and coo for a second and then intently goes back to nursing with a grunt. Every time she does that I feel like my heart could burst with love!

She's also awake for longer stretches. Last night was by far the longest stretch that she was mostly awake for. She was up from about 5pm until 2am! I'm not exaggerating either. She would doze off for 10 minutes at the most. Just long enough to think ahhh she's asleep so I can go eat/wash clothes/shower/etc. No such luck. She wasn't cranky just wanted to chat with me. I tried nursing her to sleep and she was too squirmy, her legs were constantly kicking. And boy was she gassy! I think she had some gas trouble and that's why she was awake and squirmy.

I swaddled her tightly so she couldn't kick and put her in the bassinet. After about 5 minutes looking at her mobile and trying to kick she fell asleep. Not one bit of fussing involved! That's the first time she went to sleep in her bassinet wide awake without a fight. I thought maybe she'd sleep for 6 or 7 hours being she had been up for sooooo long. Again, no such luck. She did sleep for 4 hours so that was nice.

She's finally asleep tonight in my arms as I type this after being awake pretty much since 6pm. I'm scared to lay her down. But I need to get my rear to bed, it's an early day tomorrow!

Sweet dreams

Today Jayden started laughing in her sleep. I was holding her while she dozed admiring her precious face and she cracked a big wide mouth smile. Then her body started to shake with a silent belly laugh. That continued for a few more times. Then she giggled outloud. I'm soooo looking forward to her being more talkative and interactive. NOT that I want to rush a single moment of the precious newborn days. Ok, well maybe the not sleeping through the night. I could rush that right along. But on second thought, I really do love the silent middle of the night nursings. At least during those times I'm awake enough to sit up to nurse and stay awake, rather than nursing laying our sides.
