Thankful Thursdays # 1

I read this article on msn.com about "thinking happy" and the part that struck me the most was this:

2. THEY EXPRESS GRATITUDE (WITHIN REASON)
Buoy your spirits by recording happy events on paper, your computer, or a PDA. People who write about all the things they are thankful for are optimistic about the upcoming week and more satisfied overall with their lives, according to a University of California, Davis, study. They also feel physically stronger.
"It's hard to be bitter and mad when you're feeling grateful," says Sonja Lyubomirsky, PhD, author of the upcoming book, "The How of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to Getting the Life You Want." But don't overdo it. Women who kept a gratitude journal only once a week got a bigger boost in happiness than those asked to record their good fortune three times a week. Find the frequency that works for you - giving thanks shouldn't feel like a chore.

I considered starting a gratitude journal awhile ago but it seemed like a chore so I thought this I could handle. Soooo I'm going to attempt making every Thursday "thankful Thursday" Now since I'm really anal about keeping my posts in sequential order and I seem to get behind this will either motivate me to keep up or I'll have to save it as a draft and post in sequence. :o) Hopefully it will be the former instead of the latter.

So here is "Thankful Thursday" installment number 1.

I am thankful that in light of the fact that chances are I won't have a day off until a week from next Wednesday (14 days straight of work) that Gretchen gave me most of the day off today. I came in at 11 and was off by 2. :o) She even offered to key in my orders so I could leave as soon as we got past our busiest time of the day.

I pondered coming home and doing some housework since I won't have much time for any of that the next 2 weeks. But I decided to skip it. So I'm extra thankful that I had the time today to take a nap when the kiddos did, do some blogging, and hopefully if Trevor will eat his dinner and not be too terribly cranky I'm going to take him with me to target and do some shopping.

Ahhhh what a glorious day. All of this and usually Thursday is the busiest work day for me.
