Adventures of eating

I keep telling myself that I'm going to do better in keeping up with this. But I'm not doing so good am I? Jeez, it's been 3 weeks since I've written anything. I thought for sure I had posted when Trevor started eating solids but I guess I didn't. That was well over a month ago... What a fun and sometimes frustrating experience it has been.

So here is a bit of a timeline...
12-19 Had his 4month checkup with Dr. Runez and she said it was ok to start him on cereal and slowly introduce solids. We went and got all the feeding gear, went home and fed him. He LOVED his cereal. (see picture below)

1-5 Trevor had his first veggie... Carrots. He loved carrots too. He was fussing and squirming if we didn't feed him fast enough! (picture below) Then we moved on to sweet potatos and green beans with great success.

1-19 Next was peas, he did ok for the first few days. On the 3rd day he decided he didn't like them. He took the first few bites, then started spitting it back out. I kept trying and he started to gag like I was poisoning him. Then clamped his mouth shut and wouldn't eat anymore. (see picture... notice the grimace) Over the next few days I tried to disguise peas in with some of his favorites. No matter how small the amount, he wouldn't eat peas. The pea experience has affected his eating habits.

He is now suspicious of new foods and at every feeding the first bite comes out with a grimace. So I guess our house is "pea free" That's fine with me anyway... Trav and I don't like peas either. The smell when I was feeding them to Trevor was nearly enough to make me sick too!

1-25 Trevor had his first fruit, bananas. He loved bananas. We had bananas for breakfast 3 days in a row. Unfortunately, he got a bit "plugged up" After 4 days of being stopped up he was very cranky and uncomfortable, understandably so. So we called the doctor and were told we needed to help him along. Yikes! At least he felt better afterwards!

Needless to say, we haven't had bananas since! Bananas are supposedly a good food for babies, but not 3 days in a row apparently! We've moved on to some other fruits pears, pear juice, apple juice, and apple/prune juice (too keep him regular...hehehehe) He likes veggies better than fruits, not that I can blame him after his experience with bananas. He also isn't very keen on drinking anything but milk in his bottle.

1-28 after reading on a message board about a bunch of ladies feeding their 5 month old's cheerios and gerber puffs I got some to try out. Trevor has been extremely interested in food we are eating lately. They "supposedly" dissolve pretty quickly and aren't supposed to be a choking hazard. Well we gave him one and he choked on it, so we won't be doing that again for awhile! Afterwards he seemed a little mad at me.
