BA

It is officially (I hope) the end of an era.  Jayden is graduating to her next stage of childhood being binkie free.  A few nights ago I couldn't find her binkie and rather than pulling out her bed and looking for it I decided it was time to quit.

She's got quite the addiction you know.  As I left the room I thought wow she didn't even ask for it or cry.  Ha!  Like it would be that easy!  As I put Trevor to bed she started to cry and when I went in to check on her she was so upset she was crying and shaking.  I asked her to lay back down.  She said, "dis dis" and put her fingers to her mouth telling me how very much she needed her binkie.

I asked her if she was a big girl and she said "jes" with an emphatic nod of her head.  I said since she was a big girl she didn't need the binkie anymore.  I tucked her in and left the room to her wailing.

It was the point of no return though, I couldn't give in though lest I train her to scream for what she wants.  About more trips up and down the stairs and almost two hours off and on of wailing she finally fell asleep.

If only there were something I could do to make it easier for her.  Unfortunately there is no binkie anonymous for toddlers.  Luckily the next few days got easier and easier and now I'm happy to report we are binkie free.
